THE BIRD

A Well Feathered Nest

Aren’t I a little treasure?
Don’t you go gooey, when I tweet?
How can you help but love me?
I’m a precious parakeet.

I’m a rainbow colored piece of fluff
With most appealing powers.
Why, even that dolt, the household cat,
Admires me for hours.

And though, it’s true, I have a brain
The size of a pumpkin seed,
All I need do is bat my eyes
To get everything I need.

My cotton candy brilliance,
And my songs, so sweet and airy,
Make me miles and miles better
Than a smelly, old canary.

My trilling thrills my owner.
Today, I gave her quite a spasm,
Which is as close as she'll ever come
To an, honest-to-God, orgasm.

And now, my little act is done,
From my perch (To wit: my stage),
I say, "Wake up, you blue-haired dingbat!
It’s time to clean the cage!"
